Terry Carter



Terry Carter is a 25 year member of the   Canadian PGA and is the Academy Director with the National Golf Academy.

Terry has been instrumental in instructing some of Canada's top amateur, professional and National Champions, such as Riley Fleming, Dustin Risdon, James Love, James Muir, Grant Fuhr and many more. 


Terry was voted the 2009 and 2004 PGA of Alberta Teacher of the Year by his fellow PGA professionals, was nominated for the prestigious 2007-2008 Golf Magazine top 100 instructor in North America award, and is a top 50 Golf Instructor in Canada. 

Terry has operated the Academy out of numerous facilities such as the Riverside Club, the Grand Golf Centre, and the McCowan's Golf Dome. The NGA now operates out of The NGA Dome year round as well as at Shaganappi, Confederation Park, McCall Lake and Lakeview Golf Courses throughout the golf season.


Darryl James



If the name sounds familiar, it may be Darryl's presence in the media as one of Calgary's top professional players. Having qualified for the 2014 Senior's Open at Canyon Meadows, there was a great deal of buzz around his booming long drives and accuracy off the tee. Darryl continues to wow crowds in North America while he continues his quest to qualify for the PGA Seniors Tour while making his mark on the local tour here in Alberta. 


Darryl has over 16 years experience teaching both beginner and experienced players. 

2007 and 2008 PGA of Alberta Player of the year/2007 and 2008 PGA of Alberta Champion, four time Alberta Amateur Champion and a 6 time Willingdon Cup team member. 

Darryl was Voted golfer of the 80s by Alberta Golf Magazine and played Professionally in Canada, the USA, and South Africa from 1993 to 1999. In 1994 Darryl was rookie of the year on the Canadian tour. 


Dan Cameron



Dan Cameron is the current PGA of Alberta reigning champion for 2015 and Head Teaching Professional at the National Golf Academy Dome. He also teaches at our city courses - Shaganappi, Confederation Park and McCall Lake Golf Courses. Dan is a strong advocate in teaching the fundamentals of golf and possesses excellent communication skills. All lessons include the use of video which Dan believes is one of the keys to better golf. 

Dan has recently conducted in depth Golf Schools which covers "course management and playing lessons". Dan feels this is the part of the game that would improve a student's score the most. 


Dan is proud of being born and raised in Calgary and looks forward to improving your game.

Riley Fleming

Riley 24, was born in Calgary, and has been playing competitive golf in the Calgary area since he was 12. In 2012 he was named to Team Canada’s development team where he represented Canada in numerous countries including, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Columbia. In the fall of 2012 he attended the University of Texas at Arlington on an athletic golf scholarship. In 2013 he won his first professional tournament, the Alberta Open, despite playing as an amateur. Riley left the university in the fall of 2013 to turn professional and became a member of the newly minted Mckenzie Tour, becoming the youngest member of the tour that year. Riley played 4 seasons on the Mckenzie tour as well as a stint on the Asian Tour before focusing his efforts on teaching.

John Rushnell

John Rushnell PGA of Canada Class A Teaching Professional 
John has been passionately teaching full time for the last 22 years. He believes in core fundamentals, physical fitness, mental focus and being prepared.  John’s excellent communication skills allow him to successfully instruct students in a clear concise manor. John is proud to have coached and mentored many junior athletes who have been awarded U.S scholarships.

Mike Fahey

Mike Fahey has been a Class A member of the PGA of Canada for 19 years, and for the last 5 years, he has focused primarily on becoming one of the top Teaching Professionals in the Calgary Area.

 Focusing on sound fundamentals, and keeping up with the current trends in Golf Instruction, Mike has the experience and knowledge to help every student achieve their own personal definition of success.

 There are numerous ways to make an efficient golf swing. Everyone has different strengths and limitations, and Mike will work with you and help you understand how to make your current golf swing more effective and improve your overall golf game.


Gary Shemanski



Gary received his CGTF certification in June of 2007 joining the National Golf Academy as an Associate instructor. Gary received instruction from Terry Carter at the beginning of his golfing days before receiving his Golf Teaching Certification.  

"Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing the look on a students face when they strike the ball properly. I often think that this satisfaction is better then playing golf itself." 

As an instructor with the National Golf Academy, Gary is well equipped in all facets of teaching the game golf. Gary looks forward to helping you become the best that you can on the golf course.
